ar La Sang is a testament to the love of wine and community that Lukas and Eritrea Lundgren have cultivated over the years. This cozy wine bar in Palma, is a local favorite, known for its eclectic selection of wines and warm atmosphere.

Lukas, whose Swedish parents moved to Mallorca when he was just eight, has a deep-rooted connection to the island. After gaining extensive experience in wine bars across London, Lukas and his wife Eritrea, who worked in the fashion industry, decided to bring their shared passion for wine back to the Balearic island. Their first venture, a quaint corner space in Palma’s Plaza del Hospital, set the stage for what would become Bar La Sang. "We had just one big table and no wine list," recalls Lukas in our interview. "All the bottles were on the shelves, and people could drink a wine without being able to repeat it. It was all about discovering new tastes."

In 2019, the couple expanded their vision with the opening of Bar La Sang. Emphasizing local wines, Lukas and Eritrea have worked tirelessly to highlight the unique qualities and characteristics of Mallorcan grapes. "Our clients ask above all for local wine," says Lukas. "We want to push local wines because Mallorca has an interesting terroir that gives a particular expression of grapes. Most of the wines here are pure, made in a very natural way with no additives, focusing directly on the fruits."

Natural wines, or "0/0 wines," as they are often called, have become a cornerstone of Bar La Sang. These wines are celebrated for their minimal intervention, allowing the true character of the grapes to shine. "Quality grapes, terroir, and climate are what you capture in the bottle. You can’t produce good wine without high-quality grapes," explains Lukas.

Bar La Sang is more than just a wine bar; it's a family affair. Lukas's parents own a wine distribution company, and the Lundgren’s often collaborate with local and independent producers to curate their selection. "We buy the wine we like! This is our first criterion to select a wine," he says.

Food and wine: the perfect match

Their passion for wine extends to food collaborations as well. Bar La Sang frequently hosts pop-up events with chefs, creating unique pairings that keep patrons coming back for more. "When you combine food and wine, it makes magic happen," says Lukas. From spicy tacos to fresh salads, their innovative pairings break barriers and explore new gastronomic experiences.

“Poc a Poc”, the main event for natural wine comes back in June

In 2022, Bar La Sang launched "Poc a Poc", an annual wine fair that focuses exclusively on natural wines. This year, the 3rd edition of the event, will take place on June 16th in Son Castello. The event welcomes both professionals and amateurs, offering tastings, information and a shop, along with five food stands ranging from natural ice cream to casqueria. "At Poc a Poc, we will have a shop where visitors can buy bottles and merchandise to take away," says Eritrea. "We receive an international group wine makers and wine lovers, making it a truly special event."

Lukas and Eritrea's commitment to quality and innovation has made Bar La Sang a beloved and trendy spot in Palma de Mallorca. As they continue to explore new wines and culinary delights, one thing remains clear: at Bar La Sang, wine is not just a drink; it's a way of life. "Indeed, wine is our religion. We believe in it very strongly," affirms Lukas.
