Where are you from and did you live in other places before moving to Mallorca?
MA

I was born in Madrid, but from a very young age I felt the need to explore other places. I have lived long periods of my life in Brazil, Los Angeles, Mexico, Bali and Australia.

LP
What was your career path before moving to Mallorca ?
MA

I studied advertising and at the age of 23 I set up my own communication agency. I have also worked as a photographer and tried my luck in the world of acting for a few years. Mexico was the country of my awakening. I lived in Mexico City and worked as an actress, but when I was not shooting I escaped to Tulum, where I gradually entered the spiritual world. Since then I have never stopped learning. I trained as a yoga teacher in India. I also studied phytology, aromatherapy and natural Ayurvedic cosmetics. Every country I have travelled to - Peru, Bolivia, India, Nepal, Bali and more - has planted seeds of learning in me. Having a curious look at life makes me an eternal learner.

Can you tell us more about your journey to Mallorca?
MA

When I got pregnant we lived in Bali and we felt that we wanted to return to Spain. However, after so many years living in wilder places, returning to Madrid wasn't an option for us. Mallorca is an island with which I have felt energetically united since I was a child. For me, it was one of those places where I knew it had a good vibe, and it seemed like the perfect destination for us to create our family.

I have accepted not achieving everything and I don't get frustrated by it. I take it day by day, trying to give my best version. Having clear priorities helps me focus on what is important to me.
LP
What are some of the key principles of slow and eco living that you practise daily?
MA

Gratitude. For everything, for what I have and what I don't. Simplify. Simplify what you do, what you have, what you eat, what you think. SIMPLIFY your life.

LP
How has living in the countryside of Mallorca influenced your approach to mindful living?
MA

For me, living in nature is the only option. We are nature and that is where I feel alive, in balance and connected. Nature is my source of inspiration, my playground, my raw material. Everything comes from it and returns there.

LP
Can you describe the types of workshops and retreats you offer, and what participants can expect to gain from them?
MA

Together with my husband Jorge, we have a project called The Comoonity. We propose conscious experiences to connect people with nature, with the magic that lies in creating from slowness and presence. Among others, we offer workshops in which participants learn to create their own cosmetic products, to make candles, work with plants and natural oils, botanical dyes... in short, we offer conscious experiences full of love. We also hold retreats to delve deeper into different topics. For the past eight years, The Comoonity has been a nomadic project that has brought us together with wonderful people. To me, it's a very special feeling to be part of a real community. Many people repeat workshops and travel many kilometres to accompany us on these retreats. Our supportive tribe makes me feel very lucky.

LP
What motivated you to write your book on conscious and mindful living?
MA

I wanted to share my personal story with the most absolute honesty. The book is written from my heart, without a filter, and puts words to the lights and shadows that I have experienced on my path. I think it is a beautiful story that has served as a mirror for many people to look at their lives without any judgement.

LP
How do you balance running a business, caring for your family and maintaining your commitment to slow living?
MA

I have accepted not achieving everything and I don't get frustrated by it. I take it day by day, trying to give my best version. Having clear priorities helps me focus on what is important to me.

LP
What advice would you give to someone looking to transition to a more mindful and sustainable way of life?
MA

Simplify your life. I encourage you to opt for a more minimalist life. Ask yourself: “Do I need this in my life?” Minimalism is not having few things. Having few things is the result of having a clear focus on what is essential in your life.

LP
Last but not least, what's your favourite place on the island and why?
MA

Son Serra de Marina. I love its wild nature, its pink and solitary sunsets.
