Wunder Workshop was co-founded by Tom and me in 2014. My journey into health and nutrition began with my late mother, a naturopath who spent decades living an alternative, plant-based lifestyle. Growing up in this environment, surrounded by botanicals, foraging from a young age, and growing organic food, I developed an intuitive understanding of herbalism. Recently, I completed a degree in Herbal Medicine, and I spend much of my free time foraging for mushrooms and medicinal plants here on the island.
Tom has been involved since day one. His background in pharmacology, where he encountered research on turmeric and curcumin, ignited his interest in plant-based remedies. Having worked in the medical field for years, Tom saw the need for a different approach to wellbeing. His focus is on how plants interact with the body, combining his pharmacological knowledge with a growing expertise in traditional remedies. Tom is also passionate about plant-based cooking, making organic sourdough pizza, and cycling.
The inspiration for Wunder Workshop came from multiple influences: intuitive herbalism, my plant-based upbringing, and Ayurveda’s holistic, preventative approach to health. A pivotal moment came when I traveled to Sri Lanka with my mother to deepen my understanding of Ayurveda. There, I learned about turmeric’s many benefits. After completing my Master’s in International Relations, with a focus on Climate Change, I returned to Sri Lanka to establish a partnership with farmers who now supply us with turmeric.
At Wunder Workshop, every decision we make is guided by ethical and regenerative values. We aim to promote transparency and build strong relationships between growers and consumers. Our full-circle approach means we prioritize the health of the farmers, the environment, soil health, and our customers at every stage—from planting seeds to the final sip of tea.
Our store features a range of 25 different products, including traditional herbal folk tinctures, herbal infusions sourced from forest gardens in Sri Lanka and biodynamic farms in Europe, as well as adaptogenic blends with mushrooms and potent herbs for overall wellbeing. Our best-sellers include our CBD drops, Turmeric Honey, and Golden Mylk. We also offer fresh, organic almond elixirs and nourishing potions (plus coffee!) to feed both body and soul.
We take great pride in knowing where our ingredients come from, how the soil is cared for, and the wellbeing of the farmers. The brands we collaborate with, such as the sustainable fashion label Zazi Vintage and social enterprises based in Mallorca, share the same values and commitment to sustainability.
Mallorca has a potent, nurturing energy, and I truly believe it’s a place of healing. The island attracts people who are on a similar journey—seeking to reconnect with nature, explore a more conscious lifestyle, and meet like-minded individuals. Wunder Workshop embodies these elements, and so there’s a perfect synergy between the island and our work.
Winter is a time for introspection and grounding, so it’s important to nourish our bodies with warming spices, teas, porridge, and soups. Herbs that support the immune system are also essential during seasonal transitions. Personally, I love having a warm cup of Golden Milk, incorporating more immune-supporting mushrooms into my diet, and taking my Botanical Guardian tincture, which contains potent ingredients like elderberries, cistus, and propolis.
I also start my winter mornings by lighting a candle, making an herbal tonic, and taking time to reflect on the day ahead. I find that winter’s darkness encourages a slower, more contemplative rhythm, which I cherish.
Nature is our greatest teacher and healer. Spending time in nature helps us reset, allowing us to follow her natural rhythms. Every time I immerse myself in nature, I feel my nervous system relax. It humbles me and reminds me of the interconnectedness of all things. Problems that once seemed overwhelming suddenly feel more manageable. By developing a practice of reconnecting with nature, we not only deepen our appreciation for her but also for ourselves.
We don’t have fixed plans for 2025 yet, as we prefer to go with the flow and see where life takes us. However, now that we’ve opened our beautiful new space, we’re excited to continue building our community and host gatherings with like-minded neighbors like Sadhana Works, a conscious yoga studio nearby. We also plan to expand our product range, adding more herbal offerings and collaborating more closely with Mallorcan growers.
