amily holidays in Mallorca can be amazing and finding the perfect beach is essential. While there are dozens of beaches on the island to choose from, not all of them are exactly child-friendly. Our criteria here is for easy access - i.e. no long walks or complicated drives, large stretches of sand to play, lifeguards, showers, and other amenities, including seaside restaurants and shops. If you’re looking for easy and safe fun, as well as beauty and style, these are our five-go to relaxing beaches with a family-friendly vibe for you to enjoy.

Palmanova

Located on Mallorca’s southwest coast, just 15 minutes from Palma, this sprawling and beautiful beach is a treasure trove of family fun. In the heart of the popular tourist resort, golden sand gently slopes into calm, shallow waters, creating a safe playground for the youngest beachgoers. Showers and bathrooms are available and there is a lifeguard on duty. A long boardwalk backs up to the beach with an array of cafes, restaurants, and shops as well as an assortment of children's play areas and watersports facilities. This resort town has it all!

Port de Soller

Tucked within a scenic horseshoe-shaped bay and flanked by dramatic cliffs, Port de Sóller provides an ideal family-friendly beach experience in Mallorca where you can take in the natural beauty of the island. The location boasts two beaches, Platja d'en Repic and Platja des Traves, both featuring shallow and calm waters perfect for the smallest members of your family. Some areas have lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent. Along the boardwalk, which stretches over a kilometre, are many restaurants, shops and cafes. For watersports, there is a place to rent paddleboards and in summer months, kayaks and pedal boats. Enjoy the picturesque tram that goes from Soller to Port de Soller.

Port de Pollensa

Port de Pollensa, is an idyllic setting that harmoniously unites white sand beaches, pine trees, and the stunning Serra de Tramuntana mountains on the northeastern coast. This sandy beach is perfect for the little ones thanks to its long stretch of shallow and crystal clear waters. There is a lifeguard during the summer and certain parts of the beach have tons of facilities, from umbrellas and lounge chairs to paddle boarding and canoeing. It is also the perfect spot for beach games, and the calm, shallow waters of the Mediterranean Sea provide a holiday haven for little beach-goers.

Playa de Muro

This is undoubtedly one of the best beaches for children, known for its turquoise waters and soft sandy shores, it is a popular piece of paradise on Mallorca's eastern coast. It was also voted as one of the best beaches in the world in 2023, so how could you not go? The beach has various zones, and the central one offers loads of amenities to make your time at the beach comfortable, you can find everything from sun loungers to showers. The gentle slope into the sea provides an easy swimming spot for young travellers. There are some restaurants and beach bars around if you’re looking for a bite. Ponderosa Beach is a local favourite.

Canyamel

Tucked away on Mallorca's east coast, lies a secluded paradise, perfect for families looking for relaxation and tranquillity. This golden sand beach offers a safe playground for the little ones, and the beach has everything from toilets to lifeguards. There is also a rocky area which is popular for snorkelling and the beach has swings and fun water sports. If you like exploring, be sure to visit the prehistoric caves close by. After a day of fun and sun, you can visit one of the many restaurants in the area for a delicious bite.

The beaches in Mallorca are amazing, and these are only a few of our favourites. Whether you’re looking for the perfect snorkelling spot, calmer waters, stunning scenery, long stretches of sand, or spots with water sports, you’ll be able to find just what you are looking for on this Spanish island. These beautiful beaches offer fun and tranquillity for the whole family!
