Child playing on a rope net in the forest at Jungle Parc in Santa Ponsa.

allorca offers a plethora of outdoor activities including beaches, hiking, and cycling, but sometimes a more structured adventure activity for children (and adults) is needed. What to do with children on Mallorca? From indoor rock climbing to underwater exploration, there is a diverse range of safe and fun activities on this Spanish island that cater to the young and adventurous of all ages and skill levels.

Scale New Heights: Indoor Rock Climbing

Located on the outskirts of Son Castello, the industrial and commercial centre of Palma, Indoor Wall is a bright and welcoming rock climbing space for kids and adults. There is also a cafe that serves food, making it a good birthday party location. With the entrance fee, you are given a pair of climbing shoes (bring socks!) and a harness (this is optional). The kid's area features colourful ‘rocks’ applied in various patterns across the wall, each with different levels of climbing without a harness, while those who want to scale the heights can do so safely using the harness that lets you fall back onto the well-padded ground with ease. A great sport for confidence and strength building, and fun for the whole family.

Swing Like Tarzan: Jungle Parc

Embrace the thrill of treetop adventures at Jungle Parc in Santa Ponsa. This forest adventure park offers an assortment of high rope courses nestled amidst a lush pine forest. With routes designed for varying age groups, children can swing from the trees, zip line through the canopy, and scramble up nets, all in a safe and controlled environment. Great for groups and birthday parties, but adults do need to be present for under 12-year-olds.

Pump Track: Palmanoyla

A well-designed course set in the middle of open fields just outside of Palmanoyla, this recently opened pump track is for cyclists, scooters, and skaters of varying levels. Painted courses in black, green, and brown feature bumps, curves, small hills, and other terrain made using materials that allow for slightly softer spills. Free and open to the public during daylight hours, this is a fun way for children to practise their skills and feel more comfortable on their transport of choice.

Skate Park Galatzo: Calvia

This skate park in Calvia is best for children with some experience with skateboards, skates, or scooters. It’s a mix of all ages and the tracks and ramps are designed for different skill levels, but it is known to attract high-level amateur skaters. They also host occasional competitions. Open all day and free to the public. In the summer, when most of the daylight hours are too hot to skate, the park stays open late into the night and is well-lit.

An Encounter with Nature: La Reserva Puig de Galatzó

La Reserva Puig de Galatzó is a unique nature reserve located in the heart of the Tramuntana Mountains, near Puigpunyent. It is home to a diverse range of animals, both native and exotic, which have been rescued, including bears and eagles. Children can take waterfall trails, partake in treasure hunts, and observe animals in their natural habitat. La Reserva also boasts the longest zipline on the island, for those seeking an adrenaline thrill. This is one of the best things to do on the Balearic islands.

Palma Jump!

You can’t help but sing the famous pop song, Jump! when you enter this bustling indoor space, filled with music, excitement, and trampolines. Go with a group or a friend and book a time in advance as it does get busy. There are different areas and challenge levels from toddler jumps to extreme zones, as well as parcour and a high jump. Food and drink are offered at Palma Jump, as are outdoor spaces for birthday parties. Perfect for a rainy day or just to let out some energy.

Adventure comes in many forms in Mallorca, indoors and outdoors. These six activities are excellent ideas for when you are looking for new and fun ideas for children of all ages, whether for a birthday party or simply for a fun weekend activity. This Mediterranean paradise also has water parks, adventure sports, balloon rides, and jet skiing. This beautiful island is full of fun, we also recommend doing a Nano bicycle tour through the old town, taking a boat ride to explore Mallorca, or trying a relatively new sport like flyboarding. Otherwise, a fun boat tour makes for a lovely day out or a family picnic on one of the beautiful beaches.
