Since every decision we make has an impact on the environment, every aspect of our daily lives is considered. Everything about our world, both what we can see and what we can't, respects the environment. We know we have a long way to go, so we are constantly reviewing our practices and looking for new solutions. We are not in a hurry, but we are not standing still either.
Thirteen years ago, when sustainability was not yet a trend, we decided to start SUITE13LAB. We didn't do it to follow a fashion trend or to respond to the current market, because at that time there were few references for sustainability, especially in the fashion industry. We both worked in Barcelona for different fashion brands and our experience, together with the desire to do things differently, led us to start this project in line with our values. Not identifying with the prevailing approaches in our professional environment made us question how we would really like to do things, which ultimately motivated us to create our own brand. For over a decade in Barcelona, between trips and meetings, we shared moments to talk about our ideas, what we liked, and what we didn’t in the design and production process. After much effort and many doubts, we decided to channel our energy and ideas into the creation of SUITE13LAB, opening a physical shop in Palma de Mallorca. We started managing everything from a small warehouse that served as both an office and a shop. Today, we have grown to have a team of professionals that allows us to focus on design and management. We produce our collections on-demand in three different countries and sell in over a hundred retail outlets.
We complement our own brand, SUITE13LAB, with other projects aligned with our values to offer our customers alternatives and variety under the same criteria. We carefully select various brands and choose new projects based on the needs of the final customer. Some of the brands we currently carry are:Thinking Mu, Dedicated, Oh My Bag, Ucon Acrobatics, Lefrik, Saona Joies, Mimarte, Dsnude Design and Mamalula.
Our values and inspiration are always at the forefront of what we do. Foremost is transparency; What you see is what you get with us, and we believe in the way we do things. The certifications we use are printed on our garments, explaining where our raw materials come from, the production processes, and much more. Secondly, respect; The roots of SUITE13LAB are nurtured by the care of our team and collaborators, respect for the environment, and our surroundings—protecting the seas we swim in and the lands we cultivate. For this reason, every decision we make must either respect our environment or be discarded. Thirdly, proximity: We have gotten this far thanks to our global team. When we travel to India, Turkey, or Catalonia, we enjoy sharing experiences and stories with our manufacturers and collaborators, learning from each other. We have created positive and personal synergies with them and with our customers in Palma, making all our efforts worthwhile. And lastly, balance; We are like an old-fashioned scale, each of us contributing just the right amount at each moment to achieve the perfect balance. During the creative process, we share our ideas to bring out the best in each of us. We have fun and enjoy watching our shared ideas take shape until we reach the final product.
Palma is a city at the forefront in terms of sustainability, and from the beginning, we have felt that local customers value our criteria, products, and service. Today, we feel supported, valued, and we are well-established here. We were pioneers in establishing our physical point of sale here and have received a very positive reception. Moreover, we have seen an increasing interest in sustainable fashion, which deeply pleases us. However, we believe there is still much education needed for younger generations. It is essential to raise awareness about the effects of excessive consumption in all aspects of life. We need to re-educate society to once again value clothing and take responsibility for our choices. A more conscious consumption is required, where the perception of value prevails, not volume. Sustainability, while crucial, must evolve. It shouldn’t be a standout feature in any garment or brand but something ordinary, a responsibility. The next step is to go beyond that and start implementing regenerative strategies that look to the future.
In the short and medium term, we are optimising our website, focusing on increasing online sales, having more presence on social networks, and opening new markets in new countries through the multi-brand channel, for example, in the United States. At the same time, as we manage our current project, we are immersed in creating the new collection for Fall/Winter 2025-26.
