alma has a long history of cafe culture and today, there is no shortage of great cafes where you can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee as you relax with friends or simply pick one up on the go. With an attention to sourcing beans from independent farmers, often with a focus on sustainable farming or organic processes, along with top-roasting facilities, much of it done in-house, these coffee houses apply passion and dedication to providing a perfect cup of coffee at every turn.

These seven, centrally located cafes in Palma are some of our favourite go-to places, where culture and taste are perfectly blended and where each offers its own unique flavours and welcoming atmospheres.

Mistral

If you are looking for high-quality specialty coffee with a focus on independent producers, and many organic, look no further than Mistral Coffee Roasters. Since their launch in 2017, coffee enthusiasts have been lining up to enjoy their freshly roasted coffee. With the opening of their wood and light-filled cafe in the Plaza Mercat, Mistral has become a central meeting spot. Mistral has a hip and urban vibe, and their wonderful coffee is sourced from small independent coffee farmers. They offer a small menu of juices, toasts and pastries to go along with your coffee. In addition, they sell coffee in bean or grain for home brewing and their coffee isn't only limited to their store, it can be found in various cafes around Palma.

Mama Carmen

This is a hot spot early in the mornings, when you can often expect long lines of people waiting for a fresh cup of Mama Carmens. In the heart of Santa Catalina on Carrer de Cervantes, this cute little coffee shop serves delicious vegetarian and vegan food as well as some of the best coffee on the island. It is a family-owned cafe that brims with positivity and a welcoming feel, as it looks like a traditional Spanish kitchen. The interior is beautiful with a vintage vibe that perfectly compliments their classic coffees. We highly recommend ordering one of their special house drinks while you’re there.

Araby

When it comes to coffee, Araby knows what they are doing. They may have only opened their first cafe in 2016, but these experts have been roasting coffee since 1952. In their 3-story space on Plaza Major, they have plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, as well as a spacious upstairs area, perfect for getting some work done with a delicious cup of coffee. They also offer baked goods, healthy food, juices and sandwiches throughout the day. On top of this Araby offers workshops, coffee tastings, and barista courses – sharing their best-kept coffee secrets with the rest of us!

Ruitort

Cafe Ruitort is a charming spot that offers a very calm and relaxing atmosphere just off Las Ramblas. They serve specialty coffee that is roasted on-site. The cafe blends an industrial design with a warm and inviting atmosphere, creating a very casual and relaxed space, ideal as a workspace or a quick spot for your morning fix. Ruitort also has a great lunch and brunch menu with loads of vegetarian and vegan options, as well as daily specials, so there's something for everyone. Go early as it does get crowded.

Rosevelvet

With a motto of ‘Sweet as Hell’, Rosevelvet is a sit-down cafe and take-away bakery that offers more than just fantastic coffee. Their cafe menu includes items such as breakfast burritos and bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches and their homemade cakes and pastries are delectable. They source their coffee from some of the best European roasters. The modern and chic vibe makes it the perfect spot for afternoon hangouts with friends, whether you're looking for a coffee, a delicious bite to eat, or something sweet. Their beautiful courtyard is what adds to the charm of this spot.

La Molienda

Passionate about coffee, La Molienda has been serving delicious coffee since 2013. They roast the beans in-house to create a strong yet flavourful brew. La Molienda has two cafes in Palma, one a bright and modern space and the other more cosy and intimate, and an on-site roaster, where coffee can be ordered wholesale. La Molienda also likes changing their brews, so there's always something new to try out. Getting a table can be challenging so try to get there early if you'd like to sit down with a friend.

Solo

Located near the Santa Catalina market, Solo is the perfect place for brunch, lunch, and delicious drinks. The indoor-outdoor space always has a friendly and busy atmosphere. It is a popular spot due to its variety of savoury and sweet meals, juices, and some of the best coffee in town, including many vegan and veggie options. The cafe has outdoor seating, perfect for summer days, making it a great spot to people-watch, unwind, and find some tranquillity amongst the hustle and bustle. We highly recommend trying one of their superfood lattes!

These are only some of our favourite coffee spots in Mallorca, as there are so many great places to explore and try out. But these few hit the spot when it comes to their delicious food, atmosphere, and excellent coffee, of course. From aromatic blends to local classics and creative lattes, the places on this list have it all and are certainly worth a try!
